sihanoukville Serendipity beach

Sihanoukville this morning. I stayed for 2 nights at the Savan Phoum guesthouse close to Occheuteal Beach. In the 2 days that I was there 4 guests at the hotel were robbed, including myself. Yes thats 4 guests from the same place within 24 hours. All incidents occured within 2km of each other.


Robbery 1 - A young english girl who was riding about on a hired motorbike. The incident happened on Ekareach Street going into town in the early evening. As she was riding along two locals on 2 motorbikes came up alongside her, kicked her off her bike and whilst she was lying injured on the ground, they took her bag. She lost about $100, books, clothes etc.
Robbery 2 - An english couple on a motorbike were coming back to the Savan Phoum guesthouse. They had a bag sitting in the basket in front of the handlebars of the motorbike, and as they were turning into the street that goes to the guesthouse a guy on a bike pulled up alongside them looking like he was wanting a chat. As they slowed down he grabbed the bag from the basket and sprinted off on his bike. They gave chase but lost him. They lost a digital camera, an MP3 player, and about $125.
